This year, the Ministry of Culture and Information in Saudi Arabia @MOCI_KSA broadcasted the Holy Mosque daily evening prayers live from Makkah.
In the Middle East and North Africa, we launched the first ever Arabic live show streaming on Twitter, #HawanahZein, in partnership with @YallaFeed. Eight episodes were broadcast during the holy month with 4 million viewers to date. The most viewed episode featured celebrity guest @OfficialHenedy and reached more than 1 million viewers. Other prominent guests included film director Nayla Al Khaja (@NaylaAlkhaja) and government consultant Saja Kamal (@JajOZz).
Exclusive Twitter Q&As took place with celebrities which gave fans the opportunity to directly Tweet their questions to their favorite stars. These engagements totalled over 780K video views with celebrities such as @HananMotawie (#AskHanan), @CarmenBsaibes (#AskCarmen), @Mohamed_Emam (#AskEmam) and @AmirKarara (#AskKarara).
A number of prominent personalities joined Twitter during #Ramadan to join the public conversation, including: Saudi Arabia’s first Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud (@BadrFAlSaud) and Lebanese actress Nour (@NourActress).
More than 250 Ramadan-themed Moments were produced by regional broadcasters and publishers such as @Alarabiya, @Sayidatynet, @dmctveg, @FilFan, @Layalina, @aawsat_News and @GoalSA to keep their followers up to date with what’s happening during the holy month.
In Indonesia, Muslims celebrated #Eid by sharing photos and videos of their experiences during takbiran, a unique local tradition where people walk the streets in their hometowns and chant the takbir on the last day of #Ramadan.
We partnered with @liputan6dotcom (an online portal by one of the largest media groups in Indonesia KLY) to help people find Ramadan-related information on Twitter - it included information about prayer times, Ramadan food recipes and related information to help Indonesians during homecoming travel.
@netmediatama TV integrated Twitter within its Sohoor programming, “Ini Sahur” to allow audiences to engage with celebrity guests and hosts during its show in real-time. The TV station also published videos to promote their various Ramadan programs, that generated nearly 4 million views during the holy month.
