It’s not every day you get the chance to explore a new place through your favourite chefs and go to places they go — chic cafes, fine-dine restaurants, markets, vineyards, farms — and experience a new country through their eyes.

Twitter and Tourism Australia (@TourismAus), in partnership with India’s leading food personalities such as Chef Sanjeev Kapoor (@SanjeevKapoor), Chef Vicky Ratnani (@VickyRatnani), Chef Ranveer Brar (@RanveerBrar), food consultant Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal (@RushinaMG), and food critics Vir Sanghvi (@VirSanghvi), Rashmi Uday Singh (@RashmiUdaySingh), and Marryam Reshii (@Reshii), brought the best of Australia’s food tales alive on Twitter earlier in March.

Their Tweets helped fans travel through Australia vicariously, as they conquered new flavours and shared their joys and experiences via Twitter.

From the mountains to fish markets, Sydney’s city-scapes to strawberry farms, orchards and olive groves, foodies on Twitter had the rare opportunity to visit Australia virtually with some of India’s biggest chefs as their tour guides with the help of live-Tweeting, videos, cooking demos, Periscope broadcasts, and delicious photos.

Their Tweets spoke of rare and exotic ingredients, cooking techniques, fresh produce.

Their Tweets gave users the best seat in the house at some of world’s top 50 restaurants in Australia such as Noma, Attica, and Taxi Kitchen.

As chefs and critics live-Tweeted from cities across Australia, back home in India, we were transported down under with the help of Periscopes. Rushina Ghildiyal religiously Periscoped her experiences with Ranveer Brar as they traveled across New South Wales.

Twitter users also got a chance to be part of one of the biggest food gatherings of the year: the launch of Chef Rene Redzepi’s NOMA (@ReneRedzepiNoma) pop-up in Sydney.

This culmination of these efforts was hosting these foodies at our Sydney office for a Twitter cook-off, where Sanjeev Kapoor and Ranveer Brar cooked a salad and raita together for the first time.

They also took the opportunity to hang out with their fans in the Twitter Australia #BlueRoom.
