How #AustraliaDay 2015 made history on Twitter

Australia Day 2015 was officially the biggest ever on Twitter with hundreds of thousands of #AustraliaDay Tweets sent about our national day. These Tweets are now a part of history to be stored in the Twitter Time Capsule on exhibit at the National Museum of Australia (@NMA) in Canberra.

Celebrations kicked off in Canberra where @RosieBatty1 was named Australian of the Year and @TonyAbbottMHR snapped his first selfie!



Thousands of well wishes came in from celebrities across the globe:

 

Kensington Palace even got in on the action, Tweeting some of their favourite Australian moments of the year:


But some of the best Tweets were from everyday Australians showcasing how they celebrated across the country.
