@MLS is expanding its partnership with Twitter to bring exclusive content to fans all week leading up to #DecisionDay on Oct. 25. From the @NewYorkRedBulls and @impactmontreal to the @LAGalaxy and @SoundersFC, Twitter, as well as Vine and Periscope, will be your home for MLS #DecisionDay.
Only on Twitter
@MLS and all 20 MLS teams will bring behind-the-scenes content to life for soccer fans with Twitter Mirror content all week and on #DecisionDay. Here are some Twitter Mirror Tweets:
Want some new @MLS gear? For the first time, MLS and their ecommerce provider, Fanatics, are offering fans the opportunity to purchase custom #MLSCupPlayoffs t-shirts directly from Tweets on Twitter through Buy Now. Each design represents the club’s unique identity, and can be purchased from MLSstore.com directly within a Tweet. Look nowhere else but @MLS in the coming days to purchase club swag.
MLS is also sending a social media content creator to all 10 MLS markets on Oct. 25 to bring the #DecisionDay experience to life on the @MLS Twitter, Vine, and Periscope accounts. MLS will showcase photos and videos from the locker room, to the pitch, pre-game, post-game, fan experience, and everything in between.
Vine and Periscope
On Decision Day, MLS will be turning to Vine to tell the story of the games by sharing the best goals, plays, and moments. By creating their own Vines and revining posts from the teams, the @MLS account will give people a unique and awesome way to watch the matches and big plays again and again.
MLS will actually be the first sports organization to utilize “edits” on Vine — a particular format where explosive highlights are accompanied by sick music beats. You can also expect to see a majority of these Vines Tweeted out from @MLS and the clubs.
MLS is also bringing the #DecisionDay experience to life across the league through Twitter’s live video platform, Periscope. MLS will launch a broadcast in each #DecisionDay market, and offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at game day including everything from a peek inside the locker room before the matches, to kick off, to a post-game Q&A following the final whistle.
#DecisionDay powered by Twitter
As part of the partnership, MLS will refer to Oct. 25 as the #DecisionDay experience powered by Twitter on all digital and social platforms.
MLS will also solicit great content from fans by hosting a User Generated Content (UGC) program encouraging fans to Tweet their photos or videos using the hashtag #DecisionDay for a chance to win a trip for two to #MLSCup. MLS will create an experience on MLSsoccer.com where these photos and videos are curated and showcased.
Going to the games on Sunday? MLS will be utilizing League LED inventory in all venues to encourage fans to tweet their photos and videos using the #DecisionDay hashtag. As with the LEDs, the Public Announcer in-stadium reads will also remind fans to Tweet.
