The Billboard Trending 140: Week of June 16

Meet Ricky Dillon (@RickyPDillon), who has more than 1 million subscribers on YouTube and as many devoted followers on Twitter. His single “Ordinary” came out in April, but a new fan music video posted on June 17th made it the most discussed track of the day.

@Maroon5’s “Maps” was the #1 track of the day on June 16th. Other notable tracks in the Trending 140 the past week include the official #WorldCup anthem “We Are One (Ole Ola)” from @Pitbull featuring @JLo and @ClaudiaLeitte, Afire Love from @EdSheeran, “Tony Hawk” by @Souljaboy, “Panoramic Roof” from Gucci Mane (@Gucci1017),” “Ultraviolence” from @LanaDelRey and “Stay With Me” from Sam Smith (@SamSmithWorld) (which also got a boost from a duet with @MaryJBlige).

Emerging artists shine

Austra’s (@AustraTalks) EP is available to stream this week with title track “Habitat” lighting up the Emerging Chart. Ab-Soul (@abdashsoul) made frequent Trending 140 appearances with Hunnid Stax, from forthcoming album “These Days.” This week the song has over 800K plays on Soundcloud. New York rapper @HoodieAllen released two new tracks on June 13th with “Nolan Ryan” notching the #1 spot.

Music videos matter

@LanaDelRey appears as a sparkly specter in the new video for “Shades of Cool,” released Tuesday along with her album “Ultraviolence.” The summertime song quickly rose to #1 on the Trending 140. @LinkinPark’s official video for “Until Its Gone” moved the song to the #2 spot. British rockers @ArcticMonkeys released a video for “Snap Out of It,” nabbing the #1 position on Monday.
