Support for Fort Hood shooting victims

On April 2, the military base at Fort Hood in Texas was torn apart by the second mass casualty shooting in five years. Three people plus the shooter died, and 16 people sustained injuries, some of whom remain critical. Earlier this week, President Obama and the First Lady attended services in Killeen, Texas honoring those who were killed.

The National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) reached out to Twitter to help raise funds for the Fort Hood shooting victims and their families. NCVC is working through the National Compassion Fund (NCF), which the military has designated as its official fund for this and similar tragedies. The first fund of its kind in the U.S., NCF is managed by crime victim experts expressly for victims, where 100% of the money raised goes directly to those victims.

To get the word out about this effort, Twitter is partnering with NCVC by providing Promoted Tweets that will encourage donations in the coming days.
