Yesterday’s #MLSAllStar Game showcased the best @MLS players competing against FC Bayern Munich (@FCBayernEN), the German soccer club who recently captured their 23rd Bundesliga title. From the days leading up to the match to the final whistle at Providence Park – home of the Portland Timbers (@TimbersFC) – the festivities played out on Twitter.
Overall, there were more than 165,000 Tweets sent (310% increase over last year) during the #MLSAllStar telecast on ESPN 2, according to the Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings (NTTR) from Nielsen Social (@NielsenSocial). It was the most Tweeted about TV program on August 6.
@MLS, whose all-stars defeated FC Bayern Munich 2-1, provided soccer fans with behind-the-scenes access to the action on and off the pitch:
