Commemorating the March on Washington

Fifty years ago, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial before hundreds of thousands of people to declare, “I have a dream.” Presidents, civil rights leaders and citizens joined together today to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington.

Celebrations took place on the National Mall, across the country, and on Twitter and Vine as well, where people reflected on the message of social justice that still resonates, and pondered the social change that has taken place over 50 years. Many shared their thoughts throughout the day using such hashtags as #MLK, #MOW50, #IHaveADream, and others.

The 50th anniversary of the March on Washington was celebrated on the Mall, around the country, and on Twitter.
