As the upcoming elections in the state of Gujarat capture the attention of the country, Twitter is the best place to see what’s happening in the state election and engage in conversations about political progress among citizens. In fact, Tweets related to the Gujarat Election increased 20% in the past month, indicating growing interest in state politics on the platform. As the nomination period ends and election campaigning kicks off, we're launching several initiatives for Indians to have their voice heard during the #GujaratElection2017, provide real-time updates on the campaign trail, and connect voters to politicians on the most important election issues.
To encourage people to vote and light up more conversations on the platform, we launched a special election emoji for the #GujaratElection2017.
Available now until 22 Dec 2017, the election emoji can be activated using the following hashtags in a Tweet: #चुनाव2017, #તમારોમુદ્દો, #મારું_ગુજરાત_મારી_સરકાર, #GujaratElection2017, #GujaratElection, #BattleforGujarat or #ElectionCaravan.
In addition, we're pleased to collaborate with ABP News (@ABPNewsTV and @ABPAsmitaTV) to bring more information about the #GujaratElection2017 to people across the state and India through Twitter and Twitter Lite (mobile.twitter.com).
