At its heart, Twitter is live, public and conversational. Two recent, creative integrations from the India Today Group highlight these attributes.
Let’s start with a look back at The India Today Group’s Twitter debate show #YourVote2014 on “Headlines Today”:
The show is now in its 4th week, airing on its flagship news outlet @HeadlinesToday. #YourVote2014 gives Twitter users in India a first-of-its-kind chance to participate and determine the outcome of a live debate using Tweets.
India’s first-ever live Twitter-centric TV debate show sees a faceoff between guests on a burning topic, with users live-tweeting questions and their reactions to guest answers to pick a winner. At the end of each show, with the support of Twitter partner @Frrole, the audience’s sentiment determines the outcome of the debate.
Every week #YourVote2014 inspires an overwhelming response from Twitter users with the debate trending across India. Mumbai, with a voice share of 27%, leads the cities that have tweeted the most during #YourVote2014, Delhi is a close second at 23%, with Bangalore following suit at 20%.
The show has embraced many Twitter best practices, including on-air calls to action, hashtags on screen, anchor mentions, guest retweets and a live Twitter feed that completes the circle on a comprehensive, immersive second-screen experience.
This isn’t the first time the @IndiaToday group has used Twitter to engage audiences live and in real time across their properties. With #Conclave14, held in New Delhi over 7th and 8th March this year, the group used Twitter to extended the life and reach of the conversation beyond the venue.
Stars took to the Twitter Mirror to post intimate backstage photos:
@IndiaToday used @Vineapp to drive up the fun quotient of the event:

#Conclave14 generated more than 30,000 Tweets, which reflected the excitement and high-powered conversations that took place during the event.
