Twitter users love football and millions of them are looking forward to the arrival of #EURO2016 in less than a month’s time.
There are already 13.5 million football fans in the UK on Twitter but #EURO2016 is expected to attract almost two million additional users reaching a total audience of 15.3M, according to research conducted for Twitter*.
The study found that 65% of UK Twitter users said that they were excited for the tournament’s arrival. The anticipation reflects the passion Twitter users have for football, and how Twitter enhances watching live sport.
The research found that Twitter was the number one place not only for connecting with other fans, but for real-time updates, breaking football news, and expert opinions (compared to other online sources).
