To kick off Flock London, our mobile developer event, we invited a panel of female technology leaders to our London office this evening to share their experiences and thoughts on women in technology.

It was standing room only for the ‘Super Women in Tech London‘ panel discussion, which was led by the BBC’s Philippa Thomas (@PhilippaBBC), a digital innovator with more than 20 years experience as a broadcaster.

Joining Philippa on stage were four leaders from the London technology scene:

The panelists kicked off the discussion with their personal stories of building their own technology businesses and succeeding in male-dominated industries.

The evening then went on to cover a range of issues pertinent to the panelists, including funding, mentoring, confidence and networking, with members of the 100-strong audience joining the lively discussion and speaking about their own personal experiences.

One of the topics that came up was networking, with panelists and delegates swapping ideas of organisations in the UK and beyond who had helped them build their networks. These included Geek Girl Meetup (@ggmuk), Code First Girls (@CodeFirstGirls), Ladies Who Code (@ladieswhocode), Women Who Code (@WomenWhoCode), Girls in Tech London (@Girlsintech_UK ) and Girls Who Code (@GirlsWhoCode).

The hashtag for the evening was #SWATLondon, which trended across the capital. For those who couldn’t be there, we have pulled together a selection of Tweets from the evening that give a flavour of the discussion:
