Follow the Six Nations on Twitter

Sporting rivalries are set to reignite across the UK this weekend as the home nations battle it out alongside other European teams in the RBS Six Nations Championship.

From the Saturday 2nd February - Saturday 16th March, England (@Official_RFU), Ireland (@irfurugby), Scotland (@Scotlandteam), Wales (@WelshRugbyUnion), Italy (@federugby) and France will battle to become European champions.

Clubs, players and fans are already using Twitter to speculate on this weekend’s clashes, chat with team mates and share information, making Twitter a great place to soak up the pre-match anticipation.

And with this Tweet from England (@Official_RFU), it looks like the off-pitch action is already hotting up:

We’ve seen players using the platform to chat with each other - Chris Robshaw (@ChrisRobshaw) congratulated his club team mate Olly Kohn (@OllyKohn) on his Wales call up - but we’re guessing things may not be as friendly when they meet on the pitch:

And the official referee for Sunday’s meeting between Italy and France also shared his travel plans with this Tweet, and responded to questions from fans on the platform:

It’s not just players and teams who are using Twitter to get involved with the tournament. Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones (@GethincJones) shared his thoughts on Saturday’s game between his home country and Ireland:

The action kicks off with Wales v Ireland at 1.30pm on Saturday, followed by England v Scotland at 4pm, and Italy vs France on Sunday at 3pm.
