Twitter is a great way for listeners to connect directly with their favourite radio stations and DJs, tweeting in with song requests, questions, comments and more.
So when 80,000 listeners packed into Wembley Stadium for Capital Radio’s Summertime Ball tonight, @CapitalOfficial made the most of Twitter, using it to give special access to fans at the stadium and across the UK.
As stars from the world of music arrived at the event, they were met by a special tweeting mirror on the red carpet, which snapped their expressions and tweeted them live. Fans got their first flash of fun with this shot of Ellie Goulding (@EllieGoulding):

And then there was the effortless Korean cool of Psy (@Psy_Oppa):

But the Korean superstar was rivalled in the cool stakes by Black Eyed Peas (@bep) star and judge of @BBCTheVoiceUK, will.i.am (@iamwill):

Meanwhile, Twitter’s six-second video app Vine (@VineApp) provided the radio spectacular with unique video moments for followers across the world. We saw stars such as Aluna George (@alunageorge) use Vine to reveal some stage magic to come:

Capital FM (@CapitalOfficial) made the most of Twitter in the venue - bringing the audiences both inside and out of the Summertime Ball into the show.
Tweets sent using the hashtag #STBTweet or photos to #STBphoto appeared on the stadium’s big screens. At one point, superstar host @JTimberlake took to the stage to answer questions sent in by fans using the hashtag #TweetJTanything.
Twitter was also where the stars chose to tell their stories of the day and share their personal moments, their pictures, their Vines with their fans on Twitter.
Taylor Swift (@Taylorswift13) revealed her sweet tooth to fans:
