Our team at Twitter Canada spent Friday, May 12th looking forward and giving back as part of #TwitterForGood, our bi-annual global volunteer day. #TwitterForGood unites members of the Twitter team with non-profits and neighbors, and allows us to work together to improve our communities.
Here is a recap of the three different #TwitterForGood programs we participated in.
The Maddie Project (Toronto, Ontario)
A selection of Tweeps from @TwitterCanada met with executives from The Maddie Project (@maddie_project), an organization dedicated to sparking conversation and reducing the stigma around youth mental health. The Maddie Project shared an overview of their organization and important data around youth struggling with mental health. We brainstormed on how we can best leverage our internal expertise and platform to help drive awareness for youth mental help. Many follow ups and the start of a great partnership.
The Able Network (Aurora, Ontario)
Our team spent time over lunch interacting and engaging with young adults living with intellectual disabilities, supported by the Able Network (@The_ABLENetwork). We went around the table and shared stories, answered questions about Twitter and had some good laughs!
Twitter For Non-Profits (Toronto, Ontario)
We hosted teams from more than 40 non-profit organizations across the Greater Toronto Area for an immersive hands-on Twitter workshop. Members of the @TwitterCanada brand strategy, sales and Moments teams led how-to presentations, paired with interactive exercises, discussions and coaching from other members of the Canadian team.
