Twitter is where inclusion lives. It's where people come together to form communities, feel included, and experience a sense of belonging. It's imperative that our company also lives up to this promise of inclusion in our workplaces, so Twitter is actively committed to supporting diversity at our company and in the industry.
We do this through internal initiatives, such as employee resource groups (ERG), and by building strong partnerships with organisations that create opportunities for and in support of underrepresented minorities, women, veterans, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and ally (LGBTQIA) communities.
Twitter Australia, together with the local arms of Atlassian, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn and Microsoft, is proud to help form InterTech Australia, a diversity initiative that is designed to foster inclusiveness for and support all LGBTQIA employees of Australia’s biggest technology companies.
One of Twitter’s many employee resource groups (ERG) is @TwitterOpen. Our ERGs foster supportive environments for employees of various backgrounds and have led the charge on incredible programming and initiatives both internally and externally.
@TwitterOpen fosters a strong internal community, continuing to raise awareness of the acceptance issues facing the LGBTQIA community.
We want Twitter to be a great place for not only LGBTQIA employees but also for our users and advertisers too. Diverse voices and communities engage on Twitter all the time, every day. Movements form here, and change is driven by what happens on Twitter.
Now with Intertech Australia, more than ever, we’re dedicated to keeping our workplace inclusive, supportive, and a safe place for all.
