Fabric to Become Part of Google’s Developer Platform

Developers are an important part of the Twitter ecosystem and have been since the earliest days. Over time, we expanded our developer platform from a set of APIs to include a suite of syndicated products, a data platform (via Gnip), a publisher monetization platform (through MoPub), and a suite of mobile developer offerings through Fabric.

As we embark on 2017, we are focusing on our core products and business to best position Twitter for long-term growth. Today, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve signed an agreement for Fabric to be acquired by Google. Google’s commitment to building mobile developer tools is a strong match for these products, customers, and team.

While we have found a new home for Fabric, developers remain important to Twitter. We are committed to continuing to invest in our public APIs, our Publisher Platform products including Twitter Kit and TweetDeck, our Ads API, MoPub, and Gnip.

Thank you to the amazing community that has been along this journey with us as we’ve built the Fabric mobile platform. And to the incredible Fabric team, thank you for your years of contributions at Twitter. We’re looking forward to continuing to watch this community and team thrive.
