Yesterday we started rolling out a new experience for expanded Tweets that gives partner websites the option to present their content in a more engaging way on Twitter. When users expand Tweets containing links to sites that have opted in to participate, they’ll see content previews, images, videos, and more.
We’re calling the technology behind this feature Twitter cards, and have worked closely with a variety of content and media partners to develop this new experience. To start, we’re providing three new card experiences for content summaries, images, and video, all of which are defined by the developer / publisher through simple HTML tags that they place on their site.
We’re just getting started. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling this experience out to more users. We’re also looking forward to working with more website owners who want to provide this new experience to their audience on Twitter. If you’re interested in learning more and participating, read the documentation and then fill out this form to indicate your interest.
